Help us to help whales and dolphins…

Volunteers are Vital!  We rely heavily on volunteer support and greatly appreciate our dedicated team.  We have volunteers from many walks of life all with one thing in common – a passion for the conservation of whales and dolphins.

What do the volunteers do?

There are a variety of volunteer roles:  From co-ordinating our Education Team to editing our Pacific Island Newsletter, volunteers are fundamental to the success of the organisation.  Our volunteer vacancies are advertised on the Seek volunteer website.  You can view the vacancies by navigating to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Page on Seek.  Click here and choose “W” for Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.  Scroll down until you reach us and once you are on the WDCS page you can view our opportunities by using the blue button at the bottom.

Will I see dolphins when I volunteer with WDCS?

Most of the volunteer roles are office based and don’t involve dolphin-watching.  However, our office is based at Port Adelaide (home of the Port River dolphins) and you can wander to the wharf at lunchtime and watch out for our lovely locals.

What time commitment do I need to give?

It varies depending on the role but we are very flexible.  The office is open Monday – Friday 10 am - 3 pm (Wednesdays we close at 2pm).  We prefer volunteers to be able to give us a verbal commitment to 3 months of volunteering.
